This tutorial will guide you trough the process of making a ECU connector to snap on the power and / or a CAN/USB dongle.

First of all i will give you a shopping list for the connector:

- Trionic 7 (9-3 / 9-5) ECU harness with at least 20 cm wire still attached (junk yard / ebay).

- 12 volt AC - DC adapter.

- Soldering station.

- Electrical tape.

- Electrical multimeter.

If you would like the CAN/USB too, you should also shop for:

- CAN/USB dongle.

- RS232 connector (old PC stuff / ebay).

- 120 ohm resistor

Now you want to sort out the wires on your T7 ECU harness.

This schematic will help you sort out the wires, use the multimeter to check what wire goes with the corresponding hole and mark it with a sticker.

On my connector the wire colors correspond with the following numbers:

1: green/black

19: white

22: black

23: red

25: black

43: blue/red

47: black

66: green

You can cut the rest to a short stump, you will not need other wires.

Now take your 12 volt DC power supply and cut of the connector.

Strip the wire on the end and check if the inside wire is 12v +, and the outside wire is 0v - ground.

Solder wires 1, 23 and 43 to the 12 volt + power supply wire.

Solder wires 22, 25 and 47 to the 0 volt - power supply wire.

If you are going to use this solely as a power supply for a BDM flash you are done!

Connect the connector to the ECU and fire up your BDM!
