Windows 98 / Dos USB stick for BD32.exe |
|

To use BD32.exe to read, erase or reprogram your Saab Trionic 5 or Trionic 7 ECU you need to have a Windows 98 PC with DOS and a working paralell port (or the new USB BDM tool that can write from DOS in XP / Vista).
This is a waste of a PC you could allso run windows XP on for your day to day Trionic suite tuning needs. Allso this is the most robust way & economical to reprogram your ECU.
The guide will help you create a Windows 98 / DOS booting USB drive.
- Download the Windows 98 system files.
- Download and install the HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool.
- Insert a USB drive in you windows PC. This does not have to be a large USB drive, 250 MB will suit your application / scripts needs and will leave space to store a few (.BIN / .S19) files.
- Format the USB drive with the "HP USB Disc Storage Format Tool", make sure you check the "create a dos startup disc" and use the "Windows 98 system files" you downloaded.
- When the USB drive is mounted you can put the T5 scripts, T7 scripts and BD32.exe in the root folder. This root folder will be you C:/ drive, you will not be able to adress your regular harddisc in DOS.
Reboot your PC and enter the BIOS (this is usually done by pressing either F1, F2, ESC, ... on startup, your PC will tell you what to press in the botom of the startup screen).
- Select the USB drive as primary startup disk, save and exit (F10 and ESC).
- Your PC will now boot on Windows 98 DOS.
To boot on XP you remove the USB drive / change the BIOS back to the original settings. |
